Vienna with its complicated and intriguing history continues to rein as the Center of high culture in Europe. A world class venue for classical music enthusiasts where during the summer you can attend concerts throughout the day and evening. You can also visit many of Vienna’s magnificent museums like the Kunsthistorisches , Neue Hofburg, MAK, and Secession Museum. See how the ruling European aristocracy once lived in Palaces such as the Hofberg, Schloss Schönbrunn, the Unteres Belvedere and the Oberes Belvedere both situated in the walled Belvedere garden. All these cultural sites of Vienna are accessible via a wonderfully efficient network of mass transit including trams, and subways.
A good up to date Vienna street map is essential to bring with you on your trip. A few important mass transit changes have taken place in 2010 most notably the change in the Ring road tram line 1 and 2 and the new tourist Ring Tram. Other tram routes were amended and are reflected in the current version of Streetwise Vienna street map.
Central Vienna is a wonderful area to walk around with many small and large places of interest to visit. Our inset map of Central Vienna enlarged to a scale of 1:11,000 captures all of the atmospheric little streets and alleyways which lead to special places. For example the small Domgasse alleyway leads to Mozart’s house. Another network of alleys lead to Juden Platz where the Holocaust Memorial is located. Even the Mölkersteig is drawn on the map with the pinpointing doorway icon where Harry Lime was confronted in the famous film set in Vienna “The Third Man”. These little things confirm the fact that STREETWISE® maps are designed by travelers for travelers, as our special features demonstrate. First of all, our products are laminated. That means Mother Nature can't ruin your map before you get where you're trying to go. Our laminated Vienna street map is constructed for continual use.
Not far from Karlsplatz is the famous Naschmarkt one of Europe’s largest outdoor produce markets. This area makes for a wonderfully aromatic stroll and a great place to stop for lunch before moving on to other sites.
Vienna tram routes and stops are overlaid on the Vienna street grid to visually highlight the way to sites Like Schönbrunn Palace. With its extensive garden and Palace Museum, once part of the Hapsburg dynasty, and now a stunning World Heritage site worth the scenic ride on trams line 52 or 58 from Westbanhof. Another small gem of a Palace museum is the Liechtenstein Museum accessible on tram lines D and 3. Tram line 1 or U Bahn 1 gets you to the Prater, the large park in Vienna with its famous ferris wheel and Vienna fairgrounds. The Vienna metro system map is printed on the back of STREETWISE® Vienna and includes all lines of the U Bahn and suburban S Bahn.
