In the eighteenth century it was custom for the sons of English noblemen and wealthy landowners to cross the Channel and embark on a lengthy learning experience that was known as the Grand Tour.
Bridging the gap between the end of a formal education and the responsibility of taking on Daddy’s title, the Grand Tour was a complete immersion in culture, politics and art in a foreign land.
