What makes a STREETWISE® map better than any other map?top We’re better because…
We invented this – not map making, but a different way of making a map. We are the first ones to publish an accordion-fold laminated map. Others may imitate, but no one crafts a map precisely for this format. Others take their existing maps, cookie cutter a portion out and then laminate it. This leaves street names chopped in half, missing road symbols because they landed just outside the border and text that may or may not be orientated to the direction you’ll most likely use the map. It’s not thought through with the end user in mind. STREETWISE® maps are specifically composed to make the most out of our size and layout. Every detail of the map is finely tuned to flow within the frame of the format. You may not be aware of these details, but you will notice how a STREETWISE® map is so much easier to use than other maps.
It’s the only thing we do – we don’t publish guide books (that’s a whole other animal), we don’t offer graphic design services, and we don’t make huge paper maps. We know what we do and we do it well. We make laminated accordion-fold maps of major destinations around the world. STREETWISE® maps are tools; they’re not cartoons, or toys or gimmicks. We aren’t distracted from our one and only purpose –to offer you the best map on the market.
We do the work that other companies don’t – we do the physical research that’s required to make the most accurate map possible. Let’s face it, a free map doesn’t have to be accurate and most companies won’t expend the resources, human and financial, required to do the job. At STREETWISE® we operate differently: we walk each city and drive each region. It takes time – a long, long time – which is why we only publish a few titles per year and are so diligent about keeping the maps spot on accurate and up to date. We do it because this is the only way we can be completely assured that STREETWISE® is the best map on the market.
We have a different vision – of what a city is and how it should look. Each map is a subjective work of art. It’s the mapmakers visual interpretation of an area or a place that is offered up to the world. Our vision is based on form and function; what looks beautiful should also be completely usable. We use the three C’s to create our maps: color, soft and bold, to delineate space and highlight details; coverage that is generous without being overwhelming; and content that is legible, relevant and to the point, neither too simple nor too complex. These elements and many more that you may not visibly perceive combine to create our view of the world.
In the end, it’s not about the map – it’s about getting out and finding your own authentic experience wherever you go. It’s about being in a city or a region and discovering things that you never thought you would find. You can do this if you have confidence and you have confidence if you have a great map. STREETWISE® is the great map that you need.
What can I use to write on the maps?top A dry erase marker or a china/wax pencil can be used to mark a route or specific destinations on the map, and then easily removed with a damp paper towel.
How can I tell if something is detailed on a particular map?top Click on the “Detail’ button or the “Motion” button on each map page. This will give you a general view of the map. If you still have questions about a particular area, please call us at 800-497-1314 and we’ll go over the map coverage with you.
What is the difference between STREETWISE® and ARTWISE®?top STREETWISE® maps are fully indexed with streets, places of interest, government offices, shopping, and hotels. It is the perfect map for general navigation. ARTWISE® is a culture map that gives you a listing of museums and cultural sites instead of a street index. Each listing includes the address, phone number, location on the map, opening times and days, if there is an admission charge, and a brief description of the highlights of the collection. The ARTWISE® series is a perfect companion to STREETWISE® and an indispensable part of travel planning to any culture capitol. How often are the maps revised?top Each map is revised at least every 12 to 18 months. Most maps are revised more frequently; some are revised every 2 months. It depends on the changes occurring in each city. Keeping up with revisions is an enormous task, but it’s a top priority in maintaining the STREETWISE® standard.
Do you have wall maps?top We focus on the format we developed over 20 years ago: accordion-fold, laminated, conveniently sized for travel. It’s what we do best. A wall map is actually a completely different product. For now, we only work in our original format.
How can I find out about new titles?top Join our email list and you will receive news about the release of new titles, useful travel tips and periodic updates. We will not bombard you with useless information or spam, that’s not the standard of STREETWISE® and we can’t stand spam any more than you can. You can opt out of the mailings at any time.

Maps are not returnable after 14 days. For any questions related to returns, please call toll free 1-800-497-1314 and speak to our customer care representative.
Returning gifts: We will accept returns of gifts within 14 days of receipt. We will issue a credit to original purchaser for the cost of the product and tax. Be sure to include the packing slip with your return.
Refunds: We will notify you via e-mail of the refund once we have received and processed the returned item. STREETWISE® Maps will provide a full refund of the product price, plus any tax charged. Please note that we can refund shipping costs only if the return is a result of our error.
Exchanges: Follow the same procedure for a return. Please indicate on the packing slip what map(s) you would like to receive in exchange for the returned item(s). How do I go about putting my logo on a map?top A great option is a custom designed label. Labels can be cost effective and offer greater flexibility in terms of minimum quantities.
